Adobe Photoshop may crash unexpectedly when opening or creating new files. The error message is as following:

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem

.... and after about 20 seconds:

Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Solution

To solve the issue simply disable the OpenGL in Photoshop or - even better - try finding a suitable driver for your graphics card or exchange the graphics card with one that works properly with Photoshop.

Disable the Adobe Photoshop OpenGL Support
